Newman House is the Roman Catholic chaplaincy at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. We provide a safe community where students can share, explore, and discover the fullness of the Catholic faith.
The physical house itself serves a dual function. The main floor of the house is for socializing, for sharing coffee and tea with friends, and for working on schoolwork. The second floor is home to our beautiful Chapel, where you can pray between classes, join in our many devotions, or attend weekday Mass.
Newman House is named after John Henry Newman, a patron saint of university students. Newman was a distinguished Anglican minister who left the English church to join Catholicism and later became a cardinal. Many university campuses throughout Canada and the world have chaplaincies named after Blessed Cardinal Newman. His feast day is October 9th.
